Fans of “K-Pop Demon Hunters” face a considerable wait, as Netflix and Sony are reportedly targeting a 2029 release for the highly anticipated sequel. This extended timeline is typical for crafting animated features of this magnitude. The original movie was an unprecedented success, becoming Netflix’s most-watched film ever with over 325 million views. It also made history as the first Netflix movie to reach No. 1 at the box office, generating nearly $25 million domestically.

The franchise’s popularity extended to its soundtrack, which achieved platinum status, topped Billboard’s Top 200, and saw its hit track “Golden” secure the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100. Capitalizing on this widespread appeal, Netflix partnered with Mattel and Hasbro for global co-master toy licenses.
