The investigation began in August 2024 (as per source text) when his wife provided evidence of the secret recordings. Further investigation revealed Aejaz used hidden cameras to record children and adults at various locations, including Goldfish Swim School in Rochester Hills, hospital rooms, and bedrooms. His crimes represent a severe breach of trust, particularly given his position as a doctor at Ascension Genesys Hospital and Henry Ford Hospital Macomb.

While there are no benefits to such illicit activities, the risks and harm are profound, inflicting deep trauma on victims and eroding public trust in medical professionals. Prosecutors emphasized that the sentence ensures Aejaz will not harm others, though the damage to victims is permanent. Several women have also filed separate lawsuits against Aejaz, alleging recording and sexual assault at Henry Ford Hospital, with ongoing investigations.

Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard praised the sentence, calling Aejaz's exploitation of women and children “unconscionable.” The case highlights the critical importance of diligent investigation and severe penalties for such egregious violations.

This incident has drawn comparisons to the unsettling themes often explored in television dramas featuring a pop culture doctor recording their patients without consent.
