Rising Latin Singer DELAROSA Killed in Ambush Shooting
Maria De La Rosa, a 22-year-old rising Latin singer known by her stage name DELAROSA, tragically died on November 22 in an ambush-style murder in Northridge, California. De La Rosa had recently launched her music career, releasing her first song, “No Me Llames” (“Don’t Call Me”), in August 2025. She maintained an active presence on Instagram, sharing personal and professional updates with over 40,000 followers. Her final post, shared on October 30, showed her working on music in the studio, captioned, “Busy cookin in the Stu… It’s about that time.. GAME TIME BABY.”
The fatal incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. when De La Rosa was sitting in a parked vehicle in the San Fernando Valley. Witnesses reported seeing two men approach her vehicle at approximately 1:25 a.m. and fire multiple rounds, striking all three occupants. De La Rosa was transported to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries, while two other individuals in the vehicle were critically wounded. Authorities have described the attack as an ambush.
Detectives believe the shooting was gang-related. Days after the incident, Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman confirmed that three men have been identified as suspects. Francisco Otilio Gaytan and Benny LiconGomez have been arrested in connection with De La Rosa’s death, and an arrest warrant has been issued for Eduardo Lopez. Hochman stated that it was a “ruthless and targeted attack that stole the life of a young woman and artist and inflicted profound lifelong trauma on her family and the two survivors.”
