Michigan Couple Charged in Pregnant Daughter’s Brutal Murder

Cortney and Bradly Bartholomew face severe charges in Michigan following the horrific death of Rebecca Park, a 22-year-old pregnant woman. Authorities allege the couple lured Park, who was approximately 38 weeks pregnant and Cortney’s biological daughter, into their Wexford County home on November 3. The deeply disturbing motive, according to Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel’s office, was an attempt to forcibly remove Park's unborn infant. This alleged act of extreme violence resulted in the deaths of both Rebecca Park and her unborn child.

During their arraignment on December 2 in the 84th District Court in Cadillac, Michigan, officials detailed the grim allegations, stating the couple allegedly tortured Park in their effort to extract the child. After an extensive search, Park’s remains were tragically discovered on November 25 in the Manistee National Forest. The exact nature of Park's relationship with her biological mother, Cortney, at the time of the incident, remains unspecified.

Both Cortney, 40, and Bradly, 47, have been charged with multiple felonies, including first-degree murder, felony murder, and torture, among other offenses. Wexford County Prosecutor Johanna Carey emphasized the profound brutality of the alleged crime, describing it as a “truly horrific homicide” where a young woman and her unborn child endured “unimaginable suffering” at the hands of the defendants. Carey further noted the “extraordinary level of callousness and violence” reflected by the evidence. If convicted, the Bartholomews could face life sentences, underscoring the severe legal consequences of their alleged actions. The prosecution is being handled by the Wexford County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, with support from the Department of Attorney General. The suspects are currently held without bond due to the gravity of the case and have yet to enter their pleas. This tragic event represents an immense loss, with authorities vowing to ensure justice for Rebecca Park and her unborn child.

The tragic case has elicited a strong response on social media, intertwining with discussions of pop culture politics as viewers seek justice and awareness.
