Jason Clarke, who portrayed Alex Murdaugh in Hulu’s “Murdaugh: Death in the Family,” revealed the immense physical and mental challenges involved in embodying the convicted murderer. Clarke described learning about Murdaugh's “monumental, Clydesdale horse conviction,” highlighting his unwavering nature despite profound humiliation, including the exposure of his drug addiction and the theft of $12 million from his law firm. Murdaugh's ability to endure such public disgrace after murdering his wife, Maggie, and son, Paul, deeply impressed Clarke.

Beyond the psychological immersion, the role demanded significant physical transformation. Clarke gained 40 pounds, wore a wig, and dyed his eyebrows to resemble Murdaugh, finding the weight gain and specific dietary requirements for different scenes extremely taxing.
